Coping with Anniversaries after pet loss

As we inch closer to the 1-year anniversary of our Harryboy’s passing, I’ve been thinking about all the other “firsts” we’ve been through — our first Christmas without him, his birthday, and all those little moments that reminded us of how much love he brought into our lives. 💔🐾

Losing a beloved pet never truly leaves our hearts — and special days can bring all those emotions rushing back. It could be their gotcha day, their birthday, Christmas, or simply a day that meant so much to you and your pet. These moments can feel heavy — but they can also become gentle ways to remember the love you shared. 🌈

Here are a few ways to get through those tender days:

🐾 Allow yourself to feel — Sadness, love, even guilt… all are normal. There’s no “right” way to grieve.

🌿 Create a small ritual — Light a candle, visit their resting place, or look through your favourite photos.

💌 Share their story — Talk about them with family or friends who understand. Their memory deserves to be spoken of.

🕯️ Do something in their honour — Donate to an animal charity, plant a tree, or spend time with another pet who needs love.

💞 Be kind to yourself — Healing doesn’t mean forgetting — it means learning to live with love in a new form.

Your pet’s love was real and everlasting — and so is your bond. 💖
